 What should I do? Again, you will discover what is going to sell and what isn’t through your research. You don’t want to try to market a product that nobody wants. And with the internet you have the ability to quickly know if there is a market for the product or not.

 Where do I start? Here comes the part where you put a little bit of thought in. You need to first think about the markets that you want to be in and it can be anything at all, because you never know if it’s going to be good or not until you research the market. So if you know a lot about gardening, or cars, then begin researching these markets.

 When you are researching a market you will need to have google.com open as well as overture’s keyword suggestion tool open. But first you are going to need a short list of keywords for these two markets, keywords that you think people might use to search for products.

 Alright now, go to overtures tool and put one of these keywords into the search bar, and you will be able to see how many people are searching using this keyword or keyword phrase. The magic number you are looking for is a minimum of 1000 searches. Now once you have the right searches per month now you will need to go and see how many competing sites there are using google.com, so input that keyword using quotes (“”), and you are looking for at most 100,000 returned searches.

 This may take a bit of time, but it necessary if you want to minimize your risk of selecting a market that is dead.
